My name is Amanda, I'm a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) and Advanced Neuromuscular Therapist (ANMT). I completed my study of massage therapy at the Institute for Business & Technology in Santa Clara, California and started my massage therapy career. Working right away after graduating the Massage Therapy core program in 2013. I've worked at a chiropractic office for 6 months, worked closely with the Doctors and understanding the dynamics between Doctors and MTs. I ended up relocating out of state & eventually out of country for a few years, so I was unable to work on patients other than my family members. During this time I continued my education and research to better myself. I came back to the US in 2015 and started working at a Clinic. Over the years I felt that my work good was enough and my patients were seeing progress, but they were plateauing. I felt like there was more out there that I needed to learn.
My dedication to learn more made me seek information through self study of pre-natal, perinatal and postpartum. Also learned more about common patient complaints like frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, headaches, and many others, and eventually led me to gain even more knowledge and practice through the Advanced Neuromuscular Therapy program that I completed in 2021. As a Neuromuscular Therapist, I felt competent and confident enough to take on the patients with chronic pain and implement an injury prevention approach that shows more therapeutic benefits and results over general relaxation massage. During and after the advance program I gravitated more towards specializing in pre-natal and perinatal/postpartum, while utilizing all of the modalities I have learned.
Over the years I still continue to educate myself and became certified in a variety of advanced techniques and modalities. Self education and years of hands-on practice on top of course learning kept amplifying my competence in therapy that is focused on injury prevention and pain management. With my education I was able to realize the importance of gathering information to customize each patient’s visit. Integration of static postural assessment, palpation, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Therapy, Sports Therapy, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), client education and other mentioned techniques make each therapy visit customized and targeted. As a Neuromuscular Therapist and Health Educator, it is my duty to inform my patients that the massage IS NOT the end all be all. The long term change comes from the habits we build every day.
